Today,
I visited the Canton Fair early in the morning, drawn by its reputation as a global
trade feast dedicated to fostering exchange, cooperation, and win-win outcomes for
exhibitors worldwide. As of April 25th, the fair had attracted 148,585 overseas
buyers from 216 countries and regions, a 20.2% increase compared to the previous
session. Many buyers expressed that, despite the complex international situation,
they remain firmly optimistic about the Chinese market and Chinese products. They
emphasized that their purpose for attending was not just to "check in,"
but to "place orders."
The appeal
for placing orders lies in the Canton Fair's all-inclusive and unparalleled range
of products, showcasing both the vast scale and the specialized, refined, and increasingly
intelligent nature of "Made in China." Many enterprises in fields like
smart manufacturing, digital technology, new energy, and new materials were present,
demonstrating the confidence and resilience of China's foreign trade through their
strong, innovation-driven capabilities.
A spirit
of open and win-win global trade was palpable under the bright lights of the fair.
In Hall B of the Pazhou Complex, I discovered a booth featuring smart glasses from
Shenzhen. Curious, I approached and learned these were products from Shenzhen Qianhai
Wuxing Semiconductor Technology Co., Ltd. Ms. Paula, the Head of Overseas Business,
greeted me.
She explained
that the smart glasses can handle calls, play music, provide real-time translation
in multiple languages, and feature interactive AI capabilities. I tried them on,
asking, "What's good to eat in Guangzhou?" and immediately received a
helpful response. When I asked how Qianhai Wuxing navigates the complex international
landscape, Ms. Paula replied confidently: "First, through innovation. This
year, we launched new products like camera glasses for photography and video in
travel, business, and daily life, and hearing aid glasses for the hearing impaired.
Second, through business expansion. Late last year and this year, we reorganized
our overseas operations, establishing permanent offices in Dubai, Pakistan, and
Hong Kong to mitigate international uncertainties. The results have been very positive."
Following
the interview, Paula kindly gave me a pair of the translation glasses. They will
be incredibly useful for interviewing more international merchants!
